In order to celebrate Halloween, I made some scarily
delicious crêpes! Okay, the only thing scary about this is how pathetic my
Nutella art is (and that terrible pun. Sorry.). Also, I admit, I did
technically make these on the day after Halloween. But I was sick with a cold
on actual Halloween and didn’t feel like cooking.

Crêpes are
pretty simple and take about 5 minutes to make, which is fantastic. The batter
only has 3 ingredients (4 if you count the pinch of salt) and because you make
them so thin, they fry up in just a couple seconds. My batter was kind of
lumpy, but if I gave it a stir right before I poured it onto the pan, it was
fine. Some of the bigger ones were too doughy and thick. The best kinds of crêpes
are paper-thin.
My favorite
thing about crêpes is that there are so many different fillings. As you can
see, I picked Nutella first, because Nutella is everything. I also love freshly
squeezed lemon and a bit of sugar. Fresh fruit of any kind is an obvious choice.
You can also make dinner crêpes, filled with cheese, veggies, meat, or even
eggs. Moosewood provides a ton of suggestions for both dessert and
dinner crêpe magnificence!
